This summer, school director Trevor Twist will be leading a city hopping tour of Spain to explore the creative treasures of the Iberian peninsula! Our adventure will include daily art immersion activities including museum tours, drawing lessons, architectural lectures and landscape as well as urban scene drawing sessions. These activities will be comprehensive but easy going, just like Trevor’s classes!
“The more you know a nation’s art, the more you understand the people and vice versa.”
The group will land in the Spanish capital of Madrid on July 10th and spend the next few days exploring museums with works by Valezquez and Picasso, as well as a few of Ernest Hemingway's old haunts.
Then we'll head to the coastal city of Valencia for some well deserved R&R while doing some plein-air painting and soaking up the sun of Valencia’s world class beaches.
Afterwards, it's off to the Spanish cultural center of Barcelona to explore the works of Picasso, the city’s world class restaurants, and the abundance of Gaudi's architecture. Our tour will end with a direct flight back to Baltimore on July 20th.
So, join Trevor, fellow Mitchell Schoolers, & guests on a trip to Spain! We promise to provide a lifetime of artistic and cultural enrichment through this curated tour of Spain's artistic treasures.
All ages & art experience levels welcome!
Sketch Club is about taking your practice out of the studio and being completely immersed in art. Just like the masters! Travel to some of the best museums in and around Baltimore while discussing art history, examining technical strategies, and discovering meaning used in popular works of fine art.
All skill levels are welcome and you do not need to be enrolled in any other MSFA classes to attend. Young artists ages 12 yrs & up are also welcome to attend, however they must be with an adult. $20 suggested donation for this event.
